Melissa Goldsmith, LCSW, CCLS

Social Worker and Child Life-Specialist

I am a social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting children and families as they navigate through and process life’s most difficult passages, including medical illness, loss, and grief. I have extensive experience guiding my clients through the spectrum of life-threatening illness including; diagnosis, treatment, symptom recurrence, pain management, end-of-life processing, and grief. I feel honored to be able to bear witness to such painful moments.

As a Certified Child Life Specialist I have experience in supporting children through significant medical illness and hospitalization, as well as helping caregivers cultivate a space for honest communication that honors where both the child and parent are in their understanding of the diagnosis and illness trajectory.

My background in treating loss and grief has provided me with the skills to support individuals grieving losing a friend or family member to death, families impacted by suicide, and those dealing with ongoing adjustment related to long-term illnesses including prolonged COVID. In addition, I work well with individuals who are grieving a variety of other losses including losing a relationship, infertility, and pregnancy loss.
